About WERCS Inc.

Built by Technicians. Not a Call Center.

Most companies that service paint booths and gas detection systems are dispatchers with a phone bank. WERCS is the opposite. We were founded by a technician who spent 20 years inside paint booths, extraction rooms, and finishing systems, and built the company he wished existed: one where the person diagnosing your equipment actually understands it down to the component.

Why WERCS Exists

WERCS Inc. (Western Equipment Repair Contract Services) started with a simple frustration. Across the finishing industry, equipment that costs tens of thousands of dollars was being serviced by technicians who swapped modules until something worked and billed for the guesswork. Downtime stretched for days waiting on parts that were not even the problem. Compliance paperwork was an afterthought.

We built a different model. WERCS diagnoses to the root cause, repairs at the component level instead of throwing parts at a symptom, and documents every service to a standard that holds up to OSHA, insurance, and state inspection. That approach is why we resolve most issues on the first visit and keep equipment running that other companies would have told you to replace.

Today WERCS serves facilities nationwide: automotive collision shops, manufacturers, aerospace and defense coating operations, and the hazardous-location world of C1D1 extraction booths, with the same principle behind every call. The expert shows up, not just a truck.

Meet the Founder, Benjamin Kurtz

Founder & Lead Gas Detection Technician

Ben Kurtz founded WERCS on 20 years of hands-on expertise in paint booths, finishing systems, and Class I Division 1 hazardous-location equipment. He has spent two decades doing the work himself: diagnosing airflow problems, rebuilding burner and control systems, commissioning extraction booths, and solving the failures that stump parts-swappers. That depth is the reason WERCS can offer component-level repair and a genuine first-visit resolution standard. The knowledge is in the building, not outsourced.

In 2026, Ben earned dual factory certification from Honeywell IMC Academy across Honeywell's full industrial fixed gas detection line, the equipment that keeps extraction facilities, distilleries, and hazardous-location operations from becoming explosion risks. Honeywell IMC Academy certification is rare. Most technicians servicing gas detection equipment in the field have never completed it. It means that when WERCS calibrates, commissions, or troubleshoots a Honeywell system, it is done to the manufacturer's own specification, with verifiable certification behind it.
